We arrange special interest tours from ecology, adventure, educational, leisure, conference, research, fly and drive group tours and what have you from 5 persons to any size. You can also give us your own itinerary and we will satisfy your needs
Workshop and family stay:
This exciting package for youth who wants to learn mething new, like African drumming and dancing , and undertake some sight sightseeing. During the program, participants will stay with an indigenous host family, which is the best introduction to both language and culture. The duration is from 1 month to 12 months.
Voluntary work and family stay:
This is also an arrangement for youth, who want International experience with emphasis on developing countries, to work within a development field e.g. humanitarian, health, education, etc. this also includes a family stay, the duration is also from 2 weeks to 12months.
DEVELOPMENT TRAINING AND FAMILY STAY
PROGRAMME OF ECO TRAVEL AND TOURS AND THE INSTITUE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS-GHANA
Eco Travel and Tours has a link with the Institute of culture Affairs, a globally known NGO who will give the students and volunteers a one-week training in technology of participation and lectures in African development, focusing on Ghana in particular.
We will be very grateful if you see this as an opportunity, by organizing and registering interested youth or making it a programme for those who want to do voluntary work.
AIM
The aim of this program is to integrate development work with tourism in Ghana for young people interested in Africa.
EXECUTORS
The program is being executed jointly by Eco Travel and Tours Company and The Institute of Cultural Affairs -Ghana (ICA). While Eco Travel and Tours is a Private Tourism Company renowned in handling young people and organising ecological tours, ICA is a non-governmental organisation that is engaged in community development, training in Technology of Participation within the African context that explores development within a cultural setting.
THE PROGRAMME
This exciting program involves training, placement with a development non-governmental organisation and a family living facility.
TRAINING
The training involves training in Group Facilitation Methods, Participatory Strategic Planning, lectures on Ghanaian traditional social and political institutions and the Environment. This will be undertaken by ICA-Ghana and will last for one week.
PLACEMENT WITH DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION
After the above training program, participants will be placed with a development organisation as a volunteer. Here they will gain practical experience in development work in Ghana for the period they intend to stay by ICA - Ghana.
FAMILY PLACEMENT
Participants in the program will be assigned to Ghanaian families whom they will live with as part of the family during the period of their stay in Ghana. This will enhance integration in Ghanaian social system and increase understanding of the participants. The families are carefully selected and also monitored once they are hosting participants/expatriate. These arrangements are the responsibility of Eco Travel and Tours.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITES
There are two other facilities participants can be apply for in additional to above at an additional fee. These include:
A tour package to some important sites immediately after arrival which will take a week.
Receiving Ghanaian drumming and dancing lessons.
These additional activities are the responsibility of Eco Travel and Tours. It is also her responsibility to undertake all arrangements until the participants arrive in the country.
WHO COULD JOIN
This particular programs suits young people in Colleges and Universities between the ages of 18years -35years or any other person interested in voluntary /exchange programs and willing to learn about other culture differences of the world. Group participation of ten (10) people minimum and twenty (25) people maximum is the ideal case for a batch.
DURATION
The most suitable length of time for participants will be from six (6) months to one year. However, any length of time could be arranged.
MONTHLY INTERCHANGE
This will involve bringing together all the participants once every month for sharing of ideas and exchanging experiences. It will involve a whole day with lunch provided and some games organized as well. The participants will be joined by some staff of ICA-Ghana, Eco Travel and Tours and a staff each of the participants organizations.
MEDICAL FACILITIES
There are good hospitals and clinics with modern facilities in Ghana with good medical professional and specialist. Most of them have been trained in Germany, U.S.A Belgium, UK Cuba etc who will give tourist and participants good care in case they fall ill .
CONCLUSION
This is a tourism with a difference where you can do the same things you do at home with your family with a different family in a far away country. It also offers an opportunity for them to learn and have fun while feeling at home. It is an independent program.
